Established through the EUKI project "Empowering Local Climate Action," the Centre is active in international forums dedicated to climate change mitigation and adaptation.

In May, the UPT Climate Action Support Centre participated at the EU Mission Climate Forum, in Wrocław (Poland). Over 400 key stakeholders—from public authorities and European institutions to NGOs and researchers—gathered to analyse sustainable financing and policies that can support European ecological transition.
The Centre’s director, Dr. Rareș Hălbac-Cotoară-Zamfir, highlighted the role of academia in developing mechanisms to reduce the human impact on the climate, through nature-based solutions and innovative land policy instruments.
In June, the Centre continued its active involvement at ECCA 2025 – the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference. This event placed great emphasis on climate impact mitigation strategies, nature as ecological infrastructure, and mitigation and adaptation strategies. During the technical sessions, nature-based solutions showcased their role in carbon capture, ecosystem regeneration, and the reduction of pressure on energy and water infrastructure.
Between 14–18 July 2025, the team will take part in another high-profile event conference the “Closed Cycles and the Circular Society 2025: The Power of Ecological Engineering”. The event will bring together experts in circular technologies, resource reuse, and emission reduction integrated into spatial planning.
Through its active participation in these initiatives, the Centre demonstrates commitment to reducing the climate impact of socio-economic activities, supporting Romania and Europe in the transition toward a net-zero emissions future.
